Online Accessibility

At Burvill House surgery we employ a clinical triage system for appointments. This is to ensure fair and equal access to all of our patients. It enables us to prioritise care to those in most need, and offer greater continuity. We use an online service to take the pressure off the phones, so patients who ring can get through to our team easily.

You can state if you have a preferred clinician, if you prefer face-to-face or telephone consultation, if you need a chaperone, interpreter or have any other access or communication needs.

Urgent Appointments

To request an Urgent Appointment:

  • Submit an online form or
  • Call reception on 01707 269091 when the online form is closed.
  • If you attend the practice in person, you will also be facilitated to fill the online triage for the triage doctor to assess.

Home Vists

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.

If you do need a home visit, please call reception on 01707 269091 before 11:00.

Home visits are reserved for housebound patients and patients too ill to visit the practice.

The triaging doctor will determine if the medical condition requires a home visit and how urgently. Please be prepared to provide suitable details to enable this triaging.

You may be triaged to be seen by:

  • One of our doctors from the surgery
  • A community nurse
  • The Acute In Hours Visiting Service (AIHVS) - This is a service is commissioned on behalf of GP practices in East and North Hertfordshire.  They are a team of doctors and allied health care professionals, who will treat housebound patients and provide updated patient notes back to the practice.   We will inform you if this is the team who will be seeing you on that day.
